At only 27 years of age, Bolivian-born IVA already has a string of accomplishments under her belt that most artists spend a lifetime trying to achieve.
Starting off her musical journey by training as a drummer, Iva found her true calling when she discovered electronic music. The realisation that she was able to apply her intense passion and understanding of complex acoustic rhythms to this whole new world cemented her love for mixing records, so she stepped out from behind the drum kit and into the DJ booth.
Word of her technical skill and natural intuition for dance music spread rapidly and within a few months she had already shared the stage with internationally renowned DJs such as Derrick May, John Digweed, MANDY, Nick Warren, Anja Schneider and Tiesto; nowadays she is one of Bolivia’s most celebrated and respected female DJs. Preferring to play long sets that allow her melodic techno sound to build over many hours, IVA tells a story by taking her crowd on a musical journey they can get lost in.
After spending a few years travelling around the world to play at some of the biggest dance festivals and clubs, Iva recognized an underrepresentation of electronic music in her home country, and in 2015 she decided to take matters into her own hands by establishing Electro Preste, a festival that would celebrate and unify traditional folkloric and Andean culture with modern dance music. Now in it’s third year, Electro Preste is one of the biggest events in the Bolivian cultural calendar, and there are even plans to export the concept internationally very soon.
Signed to the Derrick May-founded techno agency TRANSMAT, and with a string of DJ dates that will take her all across Europe and India this summer, Iva has no intention of resting on her laurels and has even found the time to develop her sound in the home studio. With one of her own productions already released on Soulman Music, she also has several new tracks in the works that she plans to drop this year.
